Watching the VMAs and I can't believe Kanye West's nerve! More to come soon. (;
Okay so I just finished watching the VMAs and they were as amazing and over the top as ever!
Here's the break down of the winners:

Best Chereography: Beyonce "Single Ladies"
Best Cinematography: Green Day "21 Guns"
Best Direction: Green Day "21 Guns"
Best Editing: Beyonce "Single Ladies"
Best Special Effects: Lady Gaga "Paparazzi"
I have to say that I was extremely appalled when Kanye West took the stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech and stated Beyonce should have won. A lot of people are really upset over that and are up in arms against Kanye, and I can't blame them. I don't care whether you like Taylor Swift's music or not or whether you agree that she should have won; she won the award and it was her moment to shine. I'm so proud Beyonce stepped up at the end when she recieved her award for Video of the Year and asked Taylor to come up on stage so she could have her moment; I was really moved by how humble Beyonce was being.
I was really pleased by Russell Brand's comments about the rumors of Lady Gaga. It makes me happy to know that someone else is as outraged as I am about that and had the balls to call out the media like that on stage...
I need to go off to bed but I'll post this and finish it tomorrow.

Bento Boxes
With Christmas coming up in a few months time and my brother being in Iraq, my mother told my sister and I to make accounts on Amazon.com so we could make wishlists of things we wanted for Christmas and my brother would look through and order some things.
Bad idea, mom.
I found myself looking at all the things I had longed for which could only be obtained by impossible means until now;
I started by adding La Carmina's Cute Yummy Time to my list and then I stumbled upon an adorable bento box in the shape of a panda!
The kawaii-ness of this box was too much to bear and thus my love for bentos was born.
I looked through several of them before I discovered that I would have a hard time deciding on which one I liked best so I enlisted the help of my best friend
I sent her an email containing 13 links to all the bentos I had fallen in love with and after a few emails back and forth; I decided on one of Mamegoma, an adorable seal from the San-X company.
After deciding on which box I wanted, I added more cookbooks featuring recipes for bento boxes and some accessories to help with eating my lunch and making it look adorable. Then, I decided I wanted to try and make a bento lunch using things I already have at home... this is going to be difficult.
The first thing I had to find was a container to put my lunch in. After looking for 10 minutes I found a Rubbermaid container featuring two separate compartments and it also fits into my panda lunch bag which is great! I also found a small container for putting dips and sauces into.... now that I had my containers, all that was left was the hard part; food.
My grandparents don't go to the grocery store very often and much of what they buy is complete meals and frozen dinners or soups which wouldn't do very well in a bento lunch, my mother only gets paid every other week so money gets tight just before her next pay day.
We don't have any cold cuts at all and absolutely no veggies and hardly any fruit but I shall find way to make this work and I will come back to edit this post and tell you of my findings and, hopefully, my lunch.
I'm back and here is my lunch!
I started out looking for some sort of meat to eat and I found a can of Vienna sausage in the cupboard which I fried since I think eating things straight from the can is gross. Then, I found some white rice which had been sitting around the kitchen for a while and when I spotted the rice, I also saw the two hamburger buns which were leftover from dinner a few days ago. I put the buns in the toaster and cut both the top and bottoms into quarters; I put cheese on a few and left the rest plan. I found the apples in my refrigerator which had been left untouched (I prefer green apples). I decided I would add something more healthy to my lunch so I took and apple and cut it into wedges and separated it from the sausage using aluminum foil. I put mayo into a small container to eat with the sausage and bread and voila!
Lunch! (:
I don't think I did a bad job at all but I'll definitely be buying from school on Wednesday.

NEW START!
So, I've had this blog for a little while now and I did post a few modest entries but I realized that it was time to focus on something more positive. Inspired by blogger Carmen Yuen (AKA La Carmina) and her blog about Japanese culture, I've decided to dedicate my blog to my own passion for Japan and the Asian culture in general.
So this shall be a new start and I will try to update on a much more regular basis.
So my next post will be about bento boxes.
:D
